Emily Michelin

Emily brings a diverse set of skills to her practice, having worked on various administrative and constitutional law cases that involve minority language rights, constitutional interpretation and rights protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom. Well versed in civil litigation, Emily is now developing a practice in Aboriginal law, representing the interests of First Nations in complex rights and title claims.

Prior to joining the Juristes Power Law team, Emily obtained her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of British Columbia, where she developed her passion for law and social justice. Her involvement with the University’s Sexual Assault Support Centre further strengthened her commitment to advocacy and human rights.

Emily pursued her legal studies at McGill University, where she earned both her B.C.L. and J.D. She contributed as an editor for the McGill Journal of Sustainable Development Law and worked as a research assistant in public law and federalism. Emily also volunteered with the Legal Information Clinic at McGill and the Clinique juridique itinérante, honing her research and advocacy skills in promoting fair and equitable access to justice. Additionally, she completed a student clerkship during her studies at the Superior Court of Québec with the Honourable Alexander Pless.

Emily holds degrees in both common law and civil law. She practices law in English and French, primarily in Québec and British Columbia.
