Robert co-founded the Vancouver labour and employment and litigation firm of Gall Legge Grant Zwack LLP after having been a partner in a national firm for two decades.
Robert’s broad experience covers most aspects of civil litigation, both at the trial and appeal levels, including administrative law and constitutional law. He is also extremely well versed in labour and employment law, and an experienced litigator of tax and real estate disputes.
Robert has appeared before a large array of Canadian courts (for instance, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Federal Court, and the courts of British Columbia and Alberta), as well as before many administrative tribunals (for instance, the Environmental Appeal Board, the Labour Relations Board, the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, and the Commission for Public Complaints Against the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference)). He has also acted as an Inquiry Officer under the Expropriation Act.
Robert began his career as a professor of public law at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law and as a visiting professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Robert was a law clerk to Justice William McIntyre of the Supreme Court of Canada.
Robert practices in English. He is continuously working to improve his French-language skills.
Robert is a past Director of the British Columbia Law Institute and of the Islands Trust Fund Board.
